What is Fotopedia?

Fotopedia is the first photo encyclopedia that anyone can contribute to. You can add, organize, vote and comment on pictures. It is a community of respectful photo enthusiasts who enjoy interacting around great pictures. Fotopedia's mission is to provide the best tools for the above community to breath new life into photos, share them and promote them.


How can I take part in Fotopedia?

There are many ways to contribute: vote, reuse the millions of photos in our pool, add your pictures, create article, share Fotopedia with friends, add widgets to your website, ...

Do I need photos to take part in Fotopedia?

No need for your own photos! You can browse through a pool of millions of photos and reuse them in encyclopedia articles thanks to their Creative Commons licenses. Voting on your favorite photos is important to for the quality of the encyclopedia. Fotopedia is also a great place to interact with people who share your interests.


What are the rules in using Fotopedia?

Fotopedia is a community of respectful photo enthusiasts. Check out the Community guidelines for more information.


What is an article?

An article illustrates a specific topic, like Paris, lion or sleep. Anybody can add photos to an article.

An article is unique. It is linked to the Wikipedia article of the same name. To create an article in Fotopedia it has to exist in Wikipedia. There are over 3 000 000 English articles in Wikipedia.

If you don't find the article you want to create in Fotopedia check if it exists in Wikipedia. If it doesn't you can create it there and you'll be able to create in Fotopedia. If it does make sure you type its name right when searching for it in Fotopedia.
